One of his primary goals as a teacher is to give the student a road map to the guitar so they can write their own songs and be able to step in to any musical situation and play music with others, speaking the language of music. He does this by teaching his students the Nashville Number System and giving them a solid foundation of music theory based on the Diatonic Scales and Circle of Fifths.
Robert’s formal education is in Graphic Design and Interactive Media. He is able to use a combination of his skills to aide students in their learning. He designs his own lesson plans, creates lesson videos for his students as well as original backing tracks for at-home practice. Robert has over 35 years experience playing music live throughout the United States and Europe and enjoys performing just as much as teaching.
In addition, he co-developed and patented the Trem Belly Bar, a tremolo system specifically made for the Fender Stratocaster guitar. Robert co-owns Arlington Family Music with his wife, Susan.
